Two teams in Southeast Minnesota remain at the top of the rankings in their respective classes, while two other teams who showed strong performances either fell in the rankings or stopped receiving votes altogether.

The regular season wraps up tonight, which is why the rankings came out a few days early. We will be in Lewiston as the Chatfield Gophers take on the Lewiston-Altura Cardinals - catch the action on 103.1 KFIL

It was another busy week of High School football action, so let's jump into this week's rankings provided by the Associated Press.

Lanesboro and Grand Meadow remain in the Top 10 with Lanesboro staying put at #2 while the Superlarks jumped up to #7. The Burros topped the Superlarks in Week 1 28-0, but both teams have come a long way since then. Superlarks Head Coach Gary Sloan has been very pleased with the progression of Grand Meadow's offensive line and defensive line play. The Superlarks wrap up their season against Kingsland Wednesday night.

Lanesboro remains undefeated and will host Spring Grove tonight. The ground game has been a big reason why the Burros have been able to win 7 straight games and head coach James Semmen knows the Burros will have their hands full with a talented Spring Grove team Wednesday night in Lanesboro.

One interesting note is the LeRoy-Ostrander Cardinals fell from the 'receiving votes' despite their 57-6 win over Houston last week. The Cardinals also topped Mountain Area Lake 33-6. They are 5-2, but their two losses are to Lanesboro and Grand Meadow. The Cardinals wrap up their season at Lyle/Pacelli

Class A Minnesota High School Football Rankings

The Rushford-Peterson Trojans continue their winning ways and have moved all the way up to #3 in the rankings after a 67-7 win over Hayfield. The Trojans are working well together, averaging 43.9 points per game, and allowing just 8.9 on defense. They wrap up their regular season at home against Faribault B.A.

Fillmore Central continues to win, too, as the Falcons have rattled off 5 straight wins after a 45-6 win over Wabasha-Kellogg in Week 7. Fillmore Centrals is 6-1 and will look to make it 6 straight wins as they travel to Winona to take on Cotter tonight. The Falcons received votes again this week. Their lone loss on the year is to R-P.

Class AA Minnesota High School Football Rankings

Blooming Prairie remains #1 in Class AA after winning their 7th game in a row. The Blossoms' offense averages 45.1 points per game and they have been tough to slow down all year. They wrap up their season at Medford tonight.

Chatfield fell from #7 to #9 (despite the rankings saying they were not rated last week, they were actually #7). The Gophers played very well again last week and took down  Dover-Eyota 41-6. Chatfield will travel to Lewiston-Altura tonight to take on the Cardinals to wrap up their season. We will have the action on 103.1 KFIL!

Class AAA Minnesota High School Football Rankings

Three teams in the area remain in the Top 10 in Class AAA, as they have for nearly all season. Lake City stayed at #1 and has a big matchup with #6 Cannon Falls in Lake City tonight. The winner of this matchup could be in the driver's seat to get the top seed in the Section 1AAA playoffs. Lake City took down Goodhue last week in a high-scoring affair 59-40, while Cannon Falls topped PEM 52-26.

Plainview-Elgin-Millville at 5-2 is the lone 2-loss team in the rankings, but their two losses are to Cannon Falls and Lake City, both who have seen time at #1 in the rankings this year. PEM wraps up its season at home against LaCrescent.

Class AAAA Minnesota High School Football Rankings

Stewartville remained at #4 and Kasson-Mantorville moved up to #7 this week in Class AAAA rankings. Becker, Hutchinson, and Mound-Westonka were ranked 1, 2, and 3 again this week.

Stewartville got a big win over Winona 41-14 for their 7th straight victory and looks to be in the driver's seat for the top seed in the Section 1AAAA playoffs. The Tigers will take on Rochester John Marshall in their regular-season finale in Stewartville tonight. K-M got a win over Red Wing 54-14 last Friday to move to 6-1, they wrap up their season at Owatonna.

The Tigers topped K-M in the regular season 28-21 and the two could be on a collision course to the section finals.

Class AAAAA Minnesota High School Football Rankings

Rochester Mayo moved up to #5 in Class AAAAA after a 42-20 win over Austin last Friday night. The Spartans' lone loss of the year was against #1 Mankato West and Mayo continues to play great football. They will take on Byron at home in their regular-season finale tonight.

Mankato West will take on Mankato East (who received votes this week). East has won 6 straight since its Week 1 loss to Stewartville and is trying to upend the #1 Scarlets.

As the playoffs kickoff next Tuesday for High School football, there will be a lot of games played in a few days for many teams in the area. If a team makes the Section Semifinals, they would be playing their 4th game in just 15 days. It is a short turn around and area teams will look to remain focused as the regular season wraps up and the section tournament gets underway next week.

The Minnesota Counties With The Most Bigfoot Sightings

Apparently, there are at least SOME people that feel like they have seen Sasquatch. In fact, there have been 74 total Bigfoot sightings/reports of a sighting in Minnesota and the most recent one was in St. Louis County in November of 2020.
