There are some really odd-looking berries that I came across recently on Facebook. I had no idea what they were! They sort of looked like grapes and also sort of like long blueberries. Turns out, these things are called honeyberries and the only commercial-scale honeyberry farm in the entire country is right here in Minnesota.

These honeyberries are grown up near Duluth, in Wrenshall, MN. The place is called Farm Lola and on top of being the only commercial-scale honeyberry farm in the country, they also offer a pick-your-own option. So you can stop up at their farm and pick your own honeyberries. Based on Farm Lola's website, honeyberry picking season is in June/July. They will post more specific picking dates/times to their website as we approach those months.

What's a Honeyberry?

Aside from looking strange, what is a honeyberry? Farm Lola explains that it's the berry from a fruiting honeysuckle bush. They come from Siberia and Japan and apparently taste like a blueberry combined with a SweeTart. Of course, Farm Lola says they're good to eat on their own or on ice cream, in smoothies, etc. But you can also use them to make wines, beers, jams, and liquors! I'd love to try a honeyberry wine.

Fun fact about Farm Lola, they're owned by the same people who run the AirbnBAWK that I wrote about recently! The place where you can 'sleep' with the chickens. Keep scrolling for pictures of the place.

Spend the Night with Chickens at Unique Minnesota Airbnb

I always enjoy looking at unique places to stay and typically I find them on Airbnb. This place up in northern Minnesota called AirB-n-BAWK gives you the chance to spend the night right next to the chickens on the farm and you can help with farm chores. There are two different homes you can stay in here called The Nest and The Perch.
