Winona County Fair Canceled

Shortly after the Olmsted County Fair announced it would be canceled, the Winona County Fair followed suit.

The Winona County Fair Board issued a press release late Tuesday night with deep sadness to cancel the 2020 fair do to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the press release the fair reviewed the Minnesota Stay Safe Plan from Governor Tim Walz and came to the conclusion that there was going to be little possibility for Minnesota large public gatherings to be allowed to open by July 8th, which was the fair's original start date.

The decision to cancel the fair was made following guidance from Winona County and state officials.

The Winona County Fair Board is now turning their eyes on a bigger, and even better event at the Fairgrounds in St. Charles in 2021, with the fair kicking running from July 7th to July 11th next year.

These are not the first two large group events to cancel, either, as last week the Minnesota State Fair made the announcement to cancel the Great Minnesota Get Together for 2020.
