Undated  (KROC AM News) - Weather forecasters say a large part of Minnesota will likely experience its first winter storm of the season Friday.

Blizzard and winter storm watches are expected to kick in Friday morning for a large part of western, central and northern Minnesota.

Cities expected to be affected include Worthington in the the southwest, Fergus Falls and International Falls in the north and St Cloud in the central part of the state. Snow totals could be in the 4 - 12 inch range.

Only rain and light snow are expected in the Twin Cities.

The Rochester area will likely experience mostly rain but there will be a sudden change from the recent mild weather. It will become blustery Friday and temps through the weekend are expected to be below normal for a change with highs only in the mid 30’s.
