Woman’s Foot Struck By Semi While Chasing Sandal On I-35
Freeborn County, MN (KROC AM News) –One woman was injured after her foot was struck by a semi on I-35, while she was running into the roadway to pick up her sandal that flew from her vehicle.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 34-year-old Rachel Mills of Middleburg HTS, Ohio, ran onto I-35 near the Iowa border in Freeborn County to retrieve a sandal that flew from the vehicle she was traveling on Monday around 5:30 p.m. While trying to pick up the sandal, a Kensworth Semi traveling northbound on I-35, driven by 61-year-old William Hanson of Dodge, Wisconsin, swerved from the right lane to the left lane to avoid Mills.
The semi’s front right passenger side tire then struck Mills’ right foot. Mills was transported to Mayo Clinic Healthcare Hosptial Albert Lea with the non-life threatening injury. Nobody else was injured in the wreck.
