Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Work on a major road project in northwest Rochester is scheduled to resume this week.

It involves the section of 55th Street between 44th Avenue and Fairway Drive.

This means there will be no eastbound traffic on 55th Street beyond the traffic light at 44th Avenue, beginning the following week.

Two-way traffic will continue on the short link between West Circle Drive and Fairway Drive - for a while. Eventually, that connection will be closed and replaced by a cul-de-sac.

Also being worked on this year will be sidewalks and trail connections and on-street bicycle lanes.

The overall project began last year and is scheduled to be completed by Sept 1.
