Former WWE star Chyna, whose real name is Joan Laurer, was found dead at her apartment in California. She hadn't been heard from last night and a friend went to check on her and found her unresponsive and made the call to police. Her death is being investigated as a drug overdose. Prescription bottles were found in the home but there were no illegal drugs and there were no signs of foul play.

A statement on her official website reads:

“It is with deep sadness to inform you today that we lost a true icon, a real life superhero. Joan Laurer a.k.a. Chyna, the 9th wonder of the world, has passed away. She will live forever in the memories of her millions of fans and all of us that loved her.”

Chyna became the first woman to enter the Royal Rumble in her stint with the WWE. She went on to pose for Playboy and appeared in the VH1 series, "the Surreal Life" back in 2005. From 2004-2013, she was in six porn films after her career had taken a slide and she later went to Japan to teach English. She struggled with drug addiction for many years and even appeared on the show, "Celebrity Rehab" in 2008.

Here she is in her return to Raw back in 2001.
