Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A very expensive home helped push Rochester’s 2018 new construction activity over the half-billion dollar mark in September.

A $3-million permit was issued last month for the single family home that is being built by Summit Custom Homes in the Mayowood area.

And according to Randy Johnson, director of the city’s Building Safety Dept., it is the most expensive permit ever issued for a single family home.
Johnson says the previous high mark was a $1.5-million permit issued in 2004.

Another significant milestone was reached in September.

The valuation total for all new construction during September totaled nearly $93-million. That raised the year-to-date total to $505-million. This puts the city within reach of last year’s all-time annual record of nearly $525-million. That was the first time the annual total was over $500-million.

The largest permit issued during September was $28-million for the Urban on First project in the downtown.
