Adopt-A-Pet: Meet Scrappy The Cat
Welcome to the week of Christmas! We are only 2+ days away from Christmas day, and we are once again introducing you to an available pet to adopt. Today we have Scrappy, a black cat that unlike some of the urban legends out there, wants to bring you some luck. Scrappy is looking to find her forever home this holiday season, will it be yours?
Scrappy currently resides at the Freeborn County Humane Society in Albert Lea. Scrappy is about 3 years old and has been at the Humane Society since 2019. My friend Michaela has more on the cat we know as Scrappy.
"Scrappy is one of the long time residents at FCHS as she has been waiting for a family since 2019. She loves human affection, does well with other cats, and prefers older children who understand her need for some space at times."
Black cats, for whatever reason whether it's a stigma or urban legend, seem to have a tougher time being adopted. Michaela sent me a note that I thought was pretty interesting in regards to black cats, which we often infer to bring about bad luck. Did you know "in Japanese culture, if one sees a black cat crossing their path it is seen as a good omen?" Even more fun facts about black cats and eastern ideologies, "Feng Shui masters even suggest putting your black cat’s bed on the north side of the home to ward off evil." according to our friend Michaela.
Happy howl-idays and Merry Cats'mas to all of you who have adopted a pet this year, and to all pet owners in general!
