A New York Times report says, Amazon struggled to meet demand during the pandemic but rivals did quite well: "Target's online sales shot up 141 percent last quarter, while Walmart’s rose 74 percent. Etsy’s were up almost 80 percent in April."  To regain customers, Amazon has a few big sales planned.

Amazon's annual Prime Day sale typically takes place in July, but this year, like nearly everything else, it has bee postponed. Last year's Prime Day actually featured two full days of deals and something similar is reportedly planned for this year's sale which is now planned for September. The online retailer is still planning a summer sale and while the details aren't clear yet, Business Insider says it would be designed to help merchants "sell extra inventory they may have accumulated during the coronavirus pandemic"
