Firefighters responded to a report of a fire around 1:30 am at a home at 16 Central Ave N. Crews arrived to find one side of the home engulfed in flames.

Firefighters from Dodge Center and Kasson extinguished the fire.

Officials said that the homeowners woke up to the smell of smoke, and started to evacuate. One of the residents was forced to climb out of a window because the flames were outside her bedroom door. All occupants were outside when crews arrived and did not need medical attention. A neighboring home was evacuated for safety reasons.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this point and is being investigated by the Dodge Center Fire Department and the MN State Fire Marshal. No damage estimate was given.
