Easter Sunday Brings Record Warmth to Rochester Area

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - For a second straight year, the Rochester area has set a weather record on Easter Sunday.

The unofficial high temperature reached 80 degrees this afternoon at the Rochester airport. That was 3 degrees above the previous record high temperature for April 4th that was set in 1929 and was tied in 1942.

Easter Sunday last year fell on April 12th and featured a major late-winter storm across parts of southern Minnesota. Around 9 inches of snow was recorded in some parts of Rochester, while the official total at the Rochester Airport was a record-setting 7.5 inches.

There is no mention of snow in the forecast for the coming week, but it could be a bit damp. The National Weather Service is predicting another day with summer-like temperatures on Monday followed by chances of showers and storms starting Monday night and continuing through Thursday. Temperatures are forecast to moderate a bit but remain well above normal with overnight lows in the 50s and afternoon highs in the 60s.
