Monticello, MN (KROC-AM News) - Traffic is moving again in both directions on I-94 after the freeway was closed for hours in the Monticello area due to a fiery pileup this morning.

The State Patrol says 29 vehicles were involved in the crash on I-94 near Monticello around 9:15 a.m. Half of the vehicles in the crash were semi-trucks.

Officials say poor visibility and slick conditions due to a snow squall had created extremely difficult travel conditions in that area around the time of the crash. Despite the fires that erupted in some of the vehicles involved in the crash and the number of people affected, the State Patrol is reporting that only nine people were transported to a hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries.

Officials say several drivers apparently left the crash late before emergency crews arrived. The State Patrol is asking them or anyone else with information about the incident to contact investigators.
