Former Plant Along Zumbro River Purchased for $3.7 Million
The same developer that owns Rochester's former K-Mart property has purchased the Associated Milk Producers Inc property for just slightly more than $3.7 Million.
According to records, the Regan family did the buying via their LLC, Camegaran. The location went up for sale after Kemps closed up their milk processing and AMPI closed up their cheese making operations in 2019. With 256,631-square-foot, it's a 13-acre property.
Acreage is good for growing things and this could be used to help grow the Downtown Rochester waterfront area. Owning the former K-Mart property makes that even more possible.
On KROC'S Rochester Today program today, Mayor Kim Norton was asked about plans for the waterfront, as discussed with the Downtown Waterfront Southeast Small Area Plan (more on that if you scroll down - hear the whole show by clicking here). According to the Rochester Post Bulletin, Mayo Clinic will continue leasing the K-Mart area for park-and-ride while perhaps all of the plant will be demolished.
