Have You Seen Minnesota’s Favorite Valentine’s Day Rom-Com?

Seeing as it was released 17 years ago, you probably HAVE seen the romantic comedy that's Minnesota's favorite for Valentine's Day.

Ah, Valentine's Day. That day of love when, after spending money on candy, flowers and perhaps heading out to dinner with your true love, you might plunk down on the couch and fire up something romantic on Netflix. So just which romantic comedy (that'd be a 'rom-com,' as the kids in Hollywood say) is Minnesota's favorite for Valentine's Day?

Well, thanks to the crew over at CouponLawn, we now know the answer to that question for the past several years here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. They did a little research, looking at data from Google Trends and Google Ads, and came up with the most popular Valentine's Day rom-com's in each state from 2018 through 2020. 

And here in Minnesota, we've had a different favorite Valentine's Day movie for each of the past three years. According to the survey, in 2018, The Princess Bride, released way back in 1987, was Minnesota's most-watched movie. Not bad for a movie that's 34 years old this year! In 2019, though, our favorite rom-com for Valentine's Day was He's Just Not That Into You, which hit theatres in 2009. And in 2020-- just before the pandemic hit-- Minnesota's favorite Valentine's Day rom-com was 2004's 50 First Dates.

So there you go. If you're looking for something to watch with your main squeeze this Valentine's Day, you might want to check out one of these three films. Because if you're like my wife and me, the biggest challenge with Netflix is just finding SOMETHING you both want to watch.
