We might be in the middle of a bout with the polar vortex and shivering through the coldest temperatures of the season but there IS a sign that things will be improving soon: Twins Spring Training officially starts this week!

If you're being technical about it, the Twins' 2021 Spring Training is actually ALREADY underway down at the CenturyLink Sports Complex in Fort Myers, Florida, seeing as pitchers and catchers reported on Friday, February 12th. But full squad workouts officially begin this Wednesday, February 17th.

And, Friday also marked the release of the Twins' revised Spring Training schedule. According to the Twins official website, the Grapefruit League's revised schedule this year will see the Twins take on just five teams: the Boston Red Sox, the Tampa Bay Rays, the Atlanta Braves, the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Baltimore Orioles. It's all part of a regionalized schedule that features 29 games in 31 days-- and is optimized to try to keep any bouts with COVID-19 at bay.

The Twins exhibition season officially starts on Sunday, Feb. 28 at 1:05 pm CST against the Detroit Tigers, and wraps up on March 30th against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Opening Day of the 2021 regular season this year finds the Twins on the road in Milwaukee, playing inside the newly-renamed American Family Field (which was formerly known as Miller Park until brewing giant, MillerCoors, decided to not re-up their naming rights) taking on the Brewers.

The Twins Home Opener for the 2021 season will get underway at 3:05 pm CST on Thursday, April 8th against the Mariners. And while the Twins said in their release Friday that a limited amount of fans WILL be able to watch Spring Training games at Hammon Stadium in Fort Myers (tickets go on sale February 24th btw), there's still been no official word on whether or not fans will be allowed at Target Field this year. It IS a safe bet, though, that SOME fans will be allowed to watch the Twins in-person this season, though most likely in a limited capacity. Twins President Dave St. Peter said in January the team was working toward that goal both down in Florida and here in Minnesota.

So, even though it's still below zero in here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes this week, it's time to dig through the closet and bust out your favorite Twins gear! Can spring be too far behind?!? And speaking of closets, much like just about every resident of Minnesota owns some Twins gear (it's a law in Minnesota, isn't it?), there are also certain other things that every woman in Minnesota MUST have in her closet, as well. Keep scrolling to see what they are-- and how many are in YOUR closet!
