Sheriff’s Captain Tim Parkin says deputies responded to an alarm call at the restaurant around 2:30 Saturday morning. Upon arrival the deputies found the front door of the building had been unlocked.

No one was inside when law enforcement arrived. Parkin said the cash register and safe located inside of the restaurant had been opened.

The store’s manager reviewed security footage with deputies that depicted the alleged burglary and theft. The suspect in the footage was identified by the manager as 20-year-old Victor Sanchez of Stewartville, Parkin said.

The manager said Sanchez had been let go from the restaurant in late September. Later that day deputies arrested Sanchez at a residence on suspicion of third-degree burglary and felony theft

Olmsted County Jail records indicate Sanchez was booked into custody around 8 p.m. Saturday. Parkin said he admitted to carrying out the burglary and theft saying he needed money for something going on in his life.

Sanchez had a key and knew a code to gain access to the safe and register, the report says. Parkin said $565 in cash was taken from the restaurant.
