Update: Stewartville High School Parking Lot Shooting Case Now Closed 

Stewartville, MN (KROC-AM News)- The condition of the student athlete who was shot earlier this month in the Stewartville High School Parking lot is improving.

That’s according to an update from the family shared with the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office.

The Tiger wrestler was shot on the morning of December 12 while walking towards a bus that was set to take him and his teammates to an invitational event in Grand Forks, ND.

High School Wrestler Shot in Stewartville Parking Lot Released from Hospital

Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Captain Tim Parkin said the juvenile boy is out of the hospital. He is reported to be “at home and recovering well.” 

He was initially reported to be in critical but stable condition following the shooting. The brief statement from the sheriff’s office goes on to say, “per request of the family, no other information will be provided.”

Authorities identified the shooter as 19-year-old Logan Moyer. Moyer was found dead at the scene of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. 

Officials said shortly after the shooting that an autopsy conducted by the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner was ongoing, however the preliminary results were consistent with the initial determination.

Moyer graduated from Stewartville High School in 2024 and was a member of the Stewartville wrestling team during his time in school. 

Moyer was not a coach, volunteer or paid staff member of the current Stewartville wrestling team, the sheriff’s office said at the time.
