The Cardinals and Gophers were trading points for a majority of the match, but the Cardinals were able to execute down the stretch and came away with the sweep, 25-23, 25-14 and 25-22 on Cool 104 Tuesday night.

It all started in the first set for the Cardinals, as they were able to capitalize on a couple of really nice plays in a set that saw 16 ties. Yes, 16 different times the teams were tied, but with the score tied at 23, the Cardinals were able to get a couple nice kills to get the 25-23 win.

The set one win looked to be big momentum for the Cardinals as they were able to go into cruise control in the second set and take a 25-14 lead that was capped off with a 12-3 run to get the win.

Set three was another close battle that may not have seen as many ties as the first set but saw some great contributions from Kielan LaPlante from Chatfield and Ciarra McNally from Lewiston-Altura as the teams traded points.

The Gophers were able to tie things up at 19, but the Cardinals took control from there and took the 25-22 set win.

LaPlante led the way with 10 kills for the Gophers in a great offensive effort, Abi Hinckley was great in the back row and Teagan Allen facilitated the offense well. The offensive firepower of the Cardinals was just too much as Myia Ruzek and Ciarra McNally were able to get some good swings on the ball. McNally ended up with 14 kills to lead Lewiston-Altura. The offense was directed well by Gabby Speltz, as well.
