Fast starts were a theme for the Lewiston-Altura Cardinals, as they swept the Southland Rebels in straight sets 25-13, 25-12 and 25-10 in Three Rivers Conference play to move to 10-8 on the season. The Rebels fell to 2-9

It all started in set one when the Cardinals got some big kills from Ciarra McNally and Madison Mundt to push their lead to 10-5. They then pushed their lead to 20-10 on a 10-5 run, and never really the Rebels back into it, taking the set 25-13 during Homecoming Week for the Cardinals.

After Southland took a quick lead in set two, the Cardinals bounced back by going on another 10-5 run to lead 20-10, and finished it off with a 25-12 victory. Serving was huge for Lewiston-Altura, as they continued to put the ball in tough spots on the court, forcing the Rebels to chase down the ball all over the court, and really made it difficult to get their offense going.

With the Rebels forced to just get the ball over the net, the Cardinals were able to set their offense up and put some really good swings on the ball. This was huge for the Cardinals because they were able to use that momentum to to get these early leads that put the game out of reach.

The Cardinals took that fast start into set three, and used a 10-0 run early in the set to help push them to a 25-10 victory and a sweep.

Gabby Speltz was great for Lewiston-Altura, as she locked down an unofficial six service aces, along with setting up all of her teammates as the setter. McNally and Mundt had nine kills each, while a total of 12 Cardinals put of kills.

Brianna Johnson was all over the court for the Rebels, leading the team in kills, along with making some nice digs.
