Local College Student Collecting Thousands of Shoes for Those in Need
Your feel-good story of the day: Mallory's absolutely incredible shoe drive. Mallory, a 2018 PEM grad, is now a second-year student at the University of Wisconsin in La Crosse. She is a Biology Major, Psychology Minor, and on the Pre-Physician Assistant track. She's preparing for her second medical mission trip to Guatemala, and to get there, she has been doing something amazing - collecting shoes for those in need.
Through Funds2Orgs, she started a shoe drive, collecting thousands of shoes - new, used, small, big, and everything in between. She quickly surpassed the goal she originally set of 5,000 pairs. Her #shoemethelove has taken off, with people from the Rochester area asking how to donate. For the past month, she's had several drop-off locations set up in La Crosse, and now, a place to take your donations right here in Rochester - Farrell's Extreme Body Shaping.
The fundraiser will continue until the end of June. Mallory's trip is in January of 2021. Let's help get this impressive young woman there. "When I'm Guatemala, I work alongside doctors and other volunteers to provide free healthcare for the community members in clinics around the country." - Mallory
