Mankato Drug Overdose Death Results in 5 Year Prison Sentence
Mankato, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Hutchinson woman has been sentenced to five years in prison for the drug overdose death of a Mankato man last year.
23-year-old Alyssa Miller earlier entered into a plea agreement with prosecutors in Blue Earth County and admitted to a third-degree murder charge in connection with the death of 23-year-old Marcus Krogh.
According to the criminal complaint, Mankato police responded to a 911 call reporting a drug overdose on May 21st last year and found two young men unconscious in the residence. One of the men was successfully revived and was taken to a hospital while the second man was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy later determined he had died of fentanyl toxicity.
Investigators later learned there had been six people in the apartment when the victim and two others snorted a pulverized pill they believed was oxycodone. The criminal complaint says all three almost immediately passed out. One of the men later regained consciousness and called 911. He also told police that Miller had supplied the pill and that she and two other people left the apartment after he made the 911 call.
