Minnesota Jennie-O to be First Turkey Company in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
Shockingly, a turkey brand has never had a float in the most iconic event on Turkey Day, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Until now! Minnesota based Jennie-O Turkey Store will be debuting a float in the parade this year.
This is the 94th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and throughout all of those years, they never had a turkey company be a part of the parade till now, which is so weird!
Macy's made the announcement that Jennie-O is joining the parade lineup. Jordan Dabby is the producer of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and said in the press release that the Jennie-O float will be called "'the Big Turkey Spectacular'". Jennie-O's plan with the float is to "showcase simple and delicious ideas to make turkey an everyday protein choice."
Jennie-O made the decision to be a part of this year's parade because this is Jennie-O's 80th anniversary. What a way to celebrate!
Not only will they be a part of this year's parade, but they also want us to make our own floats at home to win a trip to see next year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in person. It's called the "Turkey Day Spectacular Sweepstakes". According to the press release what you need to do to enter is create your own parade float at home, submit a photo on their website, Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, and use the hashtags #MacysParade and #TurkeyDaySpectacular.
We'll be able to catch Jennie-O's float, along with all the other floats in the parade, virtually this year. The parade will be coming to us "live from 34th Street" on Thanksgiving morning.
