Milaca, MN (KROC AM News) - A central Minnesota teenager was hit by a car while removing a deer from a road.

The Minnesota State Patrol says the incident happened around 9:30 Friday night in Mille Lacs County. The Patrol says 16-year-old Mckayla Bottelson of Milaca was taken to a St.Cloud hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the car that struck the teen says she tried to swerve to avoid hitting her but was unable to because of oncoming traffic in the other lane.

Meanwhile, the driver of a car that was on a rural road in Becker County around 10:30 Friday night ended up crashing while trying to avoid hitting a deer. The State Patrol says 37-year-old Sunnie Rodriguez Renskers of LaPorte began braking after spotting the deer in a ditch. When she realized it was icy, she began steering away from the deer and ended up in the ditch. Renskers wasn’t hurt but her passenger - 36-year-old Tessa Schroeder of Sartell - was taken to a Park Rapids hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
