Minnesota Teen Killed in Construction Zone Crash
Lake Elmo, MN (KROC-AM News)- A teenager from Roseville is dead following a single-vehicle-crash near Stillwater, MN.
The deadly crash happened around 3:30 a.m. Thursday in a construction zone along Hwy. 36. The State Patrol’s accident report says 17-year-old Michael Schweiger and two passengers were traveling west when Schweiger reportedly drove the vehicle into a closed-off construction zone just west of Lake Elmo Ave. The report says his vehicle struck a dirt pile and rolled in the construction zone.
The report says Schweiger was not buckled up and was subsequently ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene and turned over to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The state crash report says the other two teenaged passengers in the vehicle were brought to Regions Hospital in St. Paul for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. They were identified as 16-year-old Logan Hayek and 17-year-old Ryan James Holz. The report says they were buckled up.
