The Minnesota Twins one Silver Slugger winner of 2020 was an obvious one. He was in the MVP conversation for the majority of the year, and as a DH that is hard to do, but Nelson Cruz won his fourth Silver Slugger Thursday night.

Cruz has won Silver Sluggers in 2015 and 2017 with the Seattle Mariners, and in 2019 and now 2020 with the Twins, according to the Twins Twitter account.

Cruz, 40, finished the year with a .303 average, 16 homers and 33 RBI, leading the Twins in average and homers and was second in RBI. He also led the Twins in OPS+ at 169 and OPS at .992.

It has been an incredible run for Cruz in a Twins uniform, not only being a team leader in the batter's box but also providing a strong leadership presence in the clubhouse. With Cruz in the lineup, the Twins won back-to-back AL Central titles but failed to win a playoff game.

Will Cruz be on the Twins for the 2021 season? It remains to be seen. The Twins would love to have Cruz back in the lineup in 2021, but with the coronavirus pandemic keeping fans out the stands in 2020, the Twins will want to cut payroll and Cruz will likely get a hefty payday on the free-agent market.

There is no indication on what will happen in 2021 with Cruz in the Twins, but there is no doubt he made a huge impact on the Twins franchise and the team leaping from bottom-feeders in the AL Central, to a team that is primed to win now.
