St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - The top federal prosecutor in Minnesota is stepping down.

Erica MacDonald, the US Attorney for Minnesota today announced she will be leaving the post at the end of the month.

“My highest priority as U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota has always been safety and security of the individuals, families, and communities of this great state and nation,” said U.S. Attorney MacDonald. “Serving as the United States Attorney has been my great honor and privilege. I have always been and continue to be humbled and inspired by the women and men of this office whose dedication to the pursuit of truth and justice is unwavering.”

The announcement was not a surprise. President Biden earlier requested the resignations of all of the US attorneys appointed by former President Trump. MacDonald has been serving in the position since June 2018.

First Assistant US Attorney Anders Folk will serve as Acting US Attorney for Minnesota until President Biden appoints MacDonald's successor.
