Stewartville, MN (KROC AM News) - The Stewartville Fire Department is sending a message to the person who drove over an active supply hose Wednesday - don't do it again.

A mobile home was destroyed by a fire that began around 11:00 am. The residence in the Southern Hills Mobile Home Park was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived. The owner of the home was outside and was not injured. Because of two propane tanks at the site and gusty winds, it was decided to evacuate some nearby homes.

The Stewartville Fire Dept. also had to deal with a leaking hose caused by a motorist who drove through the scene.

The department says the road near the home was blocked with cones so firefighters could run a water hose across the street to the site.

The department says despite the cones, the motorist “made a choice to drive over our 5” supply line instead of detouring around the incident.” The department says the damaged hose began leaking and “could have catastrophically failed.” Damage to the hose was put at $700.

It took about half an hour to get the fire out.

The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office says at this point, there is no evidence of suspicious activity was involved in Wednesday’s fire in Stewartville.

Most Visited State Parks In Minnesota: Is Your Favorite in the List?

Minnesota has 66 beautiful state parks. The parks have an average of 9,700,000 visitors each year. Interestingly enough, nearly 19% of park visitors come from other states and countries, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Now, my favorite State Park is Jay Cooke in Carlton, MN, but it did not break into the top 5.
