Over 60 MN Counties Over 14-Day 50 Cases Per 10K Average

In the latest COVID-19 14-day average by county from the Minnesota Department of Health, more than 2/3's of Minnesota's counties are above the 50 cases per 10,000 resident threshold that is one of the numbers school districts look at to determine whether or not they will move into a full distance learning mode.

Last week's 14-day average saw 34 counties with an average of over 50 cases per 10,000 residents, this weekly count shows Minnesota now has 62 counties over that threshold nearly doubling the number in last week's average.

Minnesota has 18 counties with an average of over 100, and one county, Polk County 191.83, with an average of nearly 200 cases per 10,000 residents.  Minnesota in the latest report also showed 0 counties with an average between 0-10 and 0 counties with an average between, 10-20. There were 2 counties, Koochiching 21.35 and Mower 28.28 Counties, with an average of 20-30 cases. 23 Minnesota counties fall in the 30-40 case range which puts them in a category of distance learning for high schools and hybrid for elementary schools.

Recently a handful of area schools have made the decision to go to a full distance learning model beginning the week of November 16th. Those area schools that are making the full distance learning switch are Faribault Public Schools, New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva Public Schools, Northfield Public Schools, Tri-City United Public Schools, and recently announced today on social media Medford Public Schools.
