Mounds  View, MN (KROC-AM News) - Agents from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension were dispatched to a St. Paul suburb this morning to investigate an officer-involved use of force incident.

The Ramsey County Sheriff's Office says the use of force involved ramming into a suspect after he fired at and nearly shot two law enforcement officers. A news release says the Ramsey County deputy and Mounds View police officer were pursuing a suspect wanted in a domestic assault case when the man "raised a handgun and fired at the approaching squads." Officials say one bullet hit just above the driver's side windshield of the Mounds View officer’s squad car and another narrowly missed a deputy and struck just below the driver's side windshield of his vehicle.

The Ramsey County deputy who was fired at then used his squad car to ram into the suspect and stop the threat. The gunman was transported to the Hennepin County Medical Center with unknown injuries. The news release says a handgun was recovered at the scene.

The shooting occurred after officers were called to a hotel in Mounds View in response to a report of a felony domestic assault involving the discharge of a firearm. That incident occurred around 10:40 a.m.
