As a teenager, I was a fan of The Monkees.  Like any red-blooded American girl, I was in love with Davy Jones.  David Thomas Jones was born December 30, 1945 in Openshaw, Manchester, Lancashire, England. At the age of 14 Davy worked for a short time as a horse racing jockey? He gave up that career to take on a role as the Artful Dodger in a London production of Oliver!.  Oliver! brought him to the US and Broadway.  From 1966 to 1971, Davy was a member of The Monkees, singing lead vocals on many of their hits including "Daydream Believer" and "I Wanna Be Free".

After the group broke up in 1971, Davy and former-Monkee Micky Dolenz formed Dolenz, Jones, Boyce & Hart, a short-lived group.  Throughout his career, Davy had roles on  many TV shows including Love, American Style, My Two Dads, SpongeBob SquarePants, Laugh-In, and The Brady Bunch.  In December 2008, Yahoo! Music named Jones the "number 1 teen idol of all time".  While riding a horse on his farm in Florida February 29, 2012, Davy Jones suffered a massive heart attack and was pronounced dead at Martin Memorial Hospital in Stuart, Florida.  He had four daughters, Talia Elizabeth, Sarah Lee, Jessica Lillian and Annabel Charlotte.
