Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  A Rochester man has been arrested for an incident that police say involved racism.

A 47-year-old Hispanic man told police he was getting out of his vehicle in the 800 block of 4th St SE around 11:00 pm Monday when he heard racial slurs from across the street.  The man who was yelling also accused the victim of sexually assaulting young children.

The man then walked over and confronted the victim while holding a hammer in one hand and a metal pipe in the other. As the victim was taking a drink from a water bottle, the man swung the hammer. It hit the bottle, causing it to fall to the ground.

The victim got back into his truck and drove off. He later called 911 but officers were not able to find the suspect. He was located Tuesday morning and arrested.

Facing a felony assault charge is 35-year-old Brady Robinson. Police say Robinson may also face a bias-related assault charge.
