
Rochester Man Now Facing Manslaughter Charge in Infant’s Death
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Rochester man accused of a causing an emergency C-section that ended in the baby’s death is expected to be arraigned Wednesday on a 1st degree manslaughter charge.
Olmsted County Attorney Mark Ostrem made the decision after the baby died Sunday.
20-year-old Chaz Moore was initially charged with felony assault. Police say Moore went to his ex-girlfriend’s residence last Thursday and during a confrontation, pushed her hard onto a bed. She later felt pain in her abdomen and drove herself to the hospital and underwent the C-section. The woman was 26 weeks pregnant.
Police say the woman suffered a 95-percent tear of her placenta and the baby eventually suffered from a loss of oxygen.
