Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A man was arrested by Rochester police last Friday after he may have been trying to steal a running car.

A woman called 911 around 6:30 a.m. to report scaring off a man she caught getting into her car. The woman was warming the car in her garage with the door open.

Officers located the suspect nearby.

After telling officers he had been looking for a cigarette, the man was arrested. He was identified as 31-year-old David Collier, who is apparently homeless.

The incident happened in the 1100 block of 4th Ave NW.
