Let's dive right in!  "Me and Mrs. Jones" by Billy Paul reached gold record status in 1972.

In 1988, Roy Orbison played his final show, taking place in Cleveland at the Front  Row Theatre.  Two days later, Roy died of a heart attack.

Frank Zappa died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 52 in 1993 at his home in Los Angeles. 

This is an interesting tidbit.  In 2006, Bill Butler, a bookstore owner from Texas, purchased a page of lyrics for Paul McCartney's song "Maxwell's Silver Hammer".  The cost?  A hefty $192,000.  This was part of the Rock and Pop memorabilia auction held at Christie's auction house.
