Spring Grove vs RTR – High Powered Offense Meet In State Quarterfinals
Two high-powered offenses will meet in the State Quarterfinals in New Ulm as #1 Spring Grove takes on Russell-Tyler-Ruthton.
The Lions are coming off a dominant performance throughout the season with an 11-0 record and looking to defend their state title, while the Knights, and champions of Section 2, come in with a record of 8-3.
Be ready for some points in this one as Senior QB Alex Folz has had a school-record breaking season on the ground and leads the Lions offense that has put up 42.8 points per game this season. Don't forget Noah Elton is having a fantastic year from the slot as a receiver as well. They will be the two guys to watch for Spring Grove.
The Knights find their success through the air and head coach Josh Fredrickson's squad has scored 34.5 points per game this season, including scoring 60, 44 and 46 points in the section playoffs.
They are led by Quarterback Cooper Hansen, who has thrown for over 1,700 yards. His favorite target is his twin brother, Carter Hansen, who has 847 receiving yards on the year. They are also number 1 and 2 on the team in tackles. These guys get it done on both sides of the ball.
Both teams present a tough defense to solve, too, with the Lions allowing 14.7 points per game, while the Knights give up 16.5 per game, both leading their respective sections.
The big plays will be key here, and seeing who can get those big plays to go their way, and slow down the opposing team's offense will find themselves in the State Semifinals.
Kickoff from New Ulm is set for 5 pm and the action will be heard on Cool 104 - KVGO 104.3-FM.
