Suspicious Fire Leads to Closure of Byron School

Byron, MN (KROC AM News) - Classes were canceled Wednesday at a Byron school because of a fire.
A passing motorist spotted flames coming from the rear of the Zumbro Education District South Campus building around 8:00 PM Tuesday and called 911.
Byron firefighters arrived to find flames shooting up the rear wall of the building. The fire was confined to a dumpster and it was put out right away. Firefighters had to force open a door to get inside the school and see if the flames had spread to the interior of the building.
The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office is treating the blaze as suspicious and the state Fire Marshall is investigating.
