We know that Southeast Minnesota is loaded with volleyball talent, with five teams ranked in the Top 10 between the Southeast, Three Rivers and HVL conferences. That means that Section 1 might just be a battle for state supremacy

Section 1A - East Subsection is loaded. There is really no other way to put it. There are 11 teams in the subsection, and eight of them are over .500. Yes, EIGHT! One of those teams, Kingsland, is two-games under and could make it to .500 by the end of the season.

Mabel-Canton (5) and Caledonia (10) are ranked in the Top-10 in Class A as of right now, but Spring Grove has beat both of those teams. Also, Fillmore Central has taken down Caledonia, but the Warriors have swept Lewiston-Altura and have a date set with Wabasha-Kellogg tonight.

I mean, it doesn't get much more difficult than Section 1A. Don't forget that Grand Meadow, Medford and Faribault Bethlehem Academy are in the West Subsection and could make a run at the section title.

Houston, Kingsland and Rushford-Peterson are all filled with talent and can make any of the top seeds nervous. The team that comes out of Section 1A will be battled tested, that is for sure.

Section 1AA has Stewartville and Kasson-Mantorville, who are ranked 1 and two in the state. Yes, Stewartville and K-M are set as the two best teams in the state and could face each other in the Sub-Section final.

Talk about a battle for supremacy. Those two squads meet one time this year on Tues the 16th in Kasson. That could determine the Number 1 seed in the Subsection. The East has Lake City, Cotter, Red Wing, St. Charles and Dover-Eyota.

It will very fun come the postseason, at the Mayo Civic and we will have the action on 103.1 KFIL and Cool 104!
