They just opened up their doors at the old fire station at Silver Lake in Rochester and now, due to COVID-19, plans are changing.  The Landing Mn, an organization that helps those in our community who are experiencing homelessness, shared on their Facebook page that many of their staff members have been infected with COVID-19.  As a result, the Day Center is moving back to the Civic Center for the next 4 weeks and a huge list of donations are needed.

To Our Amazing Community –

This pandemic has proven time and time again that we cannot predict the ebbs and flows. As we enter the cold months, cases are rising and heavily impacting our community, businesses, and organizations alike.

We are sad to say that COVID-19 has made its way into The Landing at Silver Lake Station Day Center, infecting a majority of our staff members. Due to the loss of staffing as well as to maintain the utmost safety for our friends facing homelessness, staff, and volunteers, we are relocating the Day Center back into the Civic Center space for the next 4 weeks.

This relocation will allow the day center and warming shelter to be housed under the same roof, allowing for more secure quarters and less in-and-out occurrences that would allow further exposures. Enhanced screenings will be put into place upon entering the center to further reduce the risk of potential exposure.
Now more than ever, we need our community to rally around us to help support our organization as we provide for those facing homelessness.
