Weather Service Tracking An Approaching Storm System
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The National Weather Service is closely watching an approaching storm system that could impact parts of southern Minnesota.
As of noon Tuesday, the NWS was reporting the highest risk of severe weather into Tuesday night will be in a large area of Iowa.
But there is a threat of severe weather for southern Minnesota, with chances rated from slight to enhanced. The NWS says hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes are possible, with the highest chances west of the Mississippi River.
Another extended period of cold air will move into the region after the storm departs. Temperatures are predicted to be 10 - 15 degrees below average into early next week.
