Andover, MN (KROC-AM News) - A funeral was held today in Andover for a well known  Minnesota State Patrol officer with strong ties to Rochester. 51-year-old Trooper Rob Frisby died last Sunday after a battle with cancer, leaving behind his wife and daughter.

According to his obituary posted by the Thurston-DeShaw Funeral Home,
Frisby grew up in Rochester, where he graduated from Mayo High School and Rochester Community and Technical College. He served in a variety of roles, most prominently as a drug detection dog handler in the Twin-Cities Metro area. He and his police dog partner Nikki earned multiple awards for their work together.

Frisby, who made his home in Andover during his 27 years with the Minnesota State Patrol after starting his law enforcement career with the Olmsted County Sheriff's Department. He also spent 7 years in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves during which he was deployed to Saudi Arabia along with other members of the Rochester-based 79th MP Company for Operation Desert Storm.
