According to the National Day Calendar, tomorrow is National Beer Day! This is one of the best holidays of the entire year. April 7th became known as "National Beer Day" in 1933 as President Franklin Roosevelt took the first steps to end Prohibition. He signed a law that allowed people to brew and sell beer in the United States. There was one requirement at that time and it was that beer had to remain below 4.0% alcohol. This was the first time in thirteen years beer drinkers were legally allowed to purchase beer again.

There was a recent survey taken by the team at Upgraded Points and they believe they've found the most ordered beer, by Iowans, when they visit a bar. I can't help but think...there's absolutely no way this is true. I don't know if I've ever seen someone order this while I've spent time at bars but who knows, maybe I'm wrong.

Upgraded points surveyed a little over 2,000 Americans, so the sample size is pretty decent but this feels just a little off to me. Supposedly, the most ordered beer at Iowa bars is... Blue Moon?!

I do want to mention that I'm not taking a shot at Blue Moon beers, which are made by MillerCoors. Blue Moons are fantastic and I've never been disappointed by one when I grab a 12-pack. I'm just wondering, who the heck in Iowa took this survey?

It has to be Iowans who live in Des Moines because in eastern Iowa, I'm 98% positive I can count the number of people I've seen drinking Blue Moon, at a bar, on one hand. Upgraded Points also reported that Iowa's favorite type of bar is a Brewery. This for sure checks out if you ask me. There are tons of fantastic breweries in Iowa for us to visit.

These results come at a pretty interesting time as it was reported earlier today by a colleague of mine that Iowans voted for this beer as the best beer in Iowa. Normally at this point in the article, I would probably make some kind of Iowa and Busch Light joke because, in Iowa, we drink that stuff like it's water. How isn't that the number one ordered beer?

I suppose it does make sense when you're out at a bar you might want to switch it up and order something that you don't have stockpiled in your fridge at home but I still have a hard time believing Blue Moon is Iowa's go-to at a bar. I guess I might've learned something new today.

Happy National Beer Day tomorrow! (April-7) Drink responsibly...or don't. Just don't be an idiot.
