To my eye, this is one of Rochester, Minnesota's most magnificent homes, designed in the Prairie School of architecture style by John Howe. Available for just under $1.3 million, it is a dream home right here in the Med City.

This John How Home Seems Kind of Familiar, James!

It should. In July 2020 I posted a story on a similar property...

John Howe designed that home in 1970, and also this home at 3304 Mayowood Hills Drive SW in 1976. Listed by: Karen Rue and Jessica Buelow of Edina Realty, Inc (karenrue@edinarealty.com and JessicaBuelow@edinarealty.com), it has four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and almost 4,000 square feet of brilliant lines, light, and comfort.

My favorite features in the home:

  • The double-sided brick fireplace
  • The cascading patios.
  • The backyard is a dream.

LOOK: Delightful 1976 John Howe Home for Sale in Rochester Minnesota

Sited on a sloped 5-acre lot outside of downtown Rochester, this home extends from the wooded hillside. The long eaves of the roofline offer privacy, while the home's large deck and cascading patios truly connect the interior to the outside landscape. An addition including a covered breezeway and detached garage was completed by the architect in the 1980s.

Inside you will find 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, and an absolutely stunning double-sided brick fireplace that is the centerpiece of the open living spaces. Built-ins and closets traverse the property leaving no space unused. The original details of this home have been impeccably maintained by the current owner!
