The USDA announced a recall of beef sticks in Minnesota and beyond, due to a health hazard situation where there's a remote probability of adverse health consequences from the use of the product. That's right out of the USDA's mouth, or keyboard, really.

Frickenschmidt Foods, a Lockwood, Mo. company, is recalling approximately 5,795 pounds of ready-to-eat beef stick products because "the product" is misbranded (they always call it "the product" or something sterile like that. It's never "the food". Not judging, just noticing). Turns out it has wheat in it but is called “gluten-free” on the label.

The ready-to-eat teriyaki beef stick items were packaged on Nov. 30, 2021, Dec. 1, 2021, and Jan. 28, 2021. (Mmmm...now they're items!)

  • 1.5 oz. individually sealed packages of “HIGH PROTEIN SNACK TERIYAKI BEEF WICKED CUTZ BEEF STICK” with lot code 113022, 120122, or 012823 printed in blue ink on the back of the product package.

  • The product subject to recall bears establishment number “M33928,” which is printed in blue ink on the back of the product package. These items were shipped to retail locations nationwide and sold through online sales.
  • No one is confirmed to have been made sick...but you know, better safe than sorry. "Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase."

Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Steven Ogden, Production Manager, Frickenschmidt Foods LLC at 417-232-4401 or steven@frickenschmidtfoods.com.

Personal Note: Frickenschmidt Foods? Fricken schmidt??? Sure that could be someone's name, but it also sounds awful close to a name chosen by 3 15-year-old boys with too much Mountain Dew in 'em.

We're far from the coldest in the USA, even though I know it doesn't seem possible.

BRRRR: The 15 Coldest Cities in America

You live here. You know how cold it gets, and by now you're probably used to it, but you should probably brace yourself because the National Weather Service issued a La Niña advisory last month and said, "La Niña winters in the southern tier of the US tend to be warmer and drier, while the northern tier and Canada tend to be even colder.

The list below is from Niche. They put together their list of the coldest cities in the county by looking at which ones had "the coldest average low temperatures during the winter months." Keep scrolling to see the 15 coldest cities in the United States.
