Celebrate Summer With A Trip Down This Alpine Slide In Northern Minnesota!
With the Alpine Slide just opening for the season this past weekend, ring in summer this year with a trip "Up North" where you can enjoy a "slide" down a mountain with views of Lake Superior!
How about kicking summer off this year with some excitement? A trip down the Alpine Slide at Lutsen might just be what you need to get this summer started off the right way! Check out this video, captured by Youtube User Ben Tower, that offers you a first-hand experience of sliding down the hillside while taking in some great views of the great lake that is Lake Superior!
Here is another video of the slide, but is a little bit smoother, of a ride.
The slide is located at Lutsen, which if you didn't know IS open during the summer months! Believe it or not but just a few weeks ago people were still skiing at Lutsen! According to the Lusten website the slide opened up for use this past weekend and will be open again on Memorial Day weekend before opening up daily in the month of June for use through fall!
Lutsen, established in 1885, is Minnesota’s oldest resort, according to their website, with the Alpine Slide being added to the property in 1977. The slide is described by the Cascade Vacation Rentals website as being: "a half-mile twisting, turning track that riders cruise down on a speed-controlled sled. You hop on the chairlift just off Ski Hill Road to the top of Eagle Mountain. Then, you soar down the mountainside on the provided sled. Since you are in control, you can go full speed and enjoy the thrilling sensation as you fly down the mountainside, or choose to take it slow and enjoy the beauty and sights surrounding the area, with Lake Superior as your backdrop."
So how about sliding into summer with a trip down this Minnesota mountainside?!
While you are "Up North" why not sing some karaoke?
