Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News)- On the same day the funeral was held for DeShaun Hill, the man accused of killing the Minneapolis High School football standout was charged with his murder.

Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman today announced 29-year-old Cody Fohrenkam has been charged with second-degree murder for the shooting death of the 15-year-old boy. He is scheduled to be formally arraigned on the charge Wednesday afternoon.

“Deshaun Hill was only 15-years-old when he was fatally shot. This is a tragic death of a young man who should still be with us today,” Freeman stated. “Our community once again mourns the loss of a life due to senseless gun violence. My thoughts go out to his family, friends, and loved ones during this unimaginably difficult time.”

A news release from the Hennepin County Attorney's Office says the young victim was found shot in the head in North Minneapolis on February 9. Fohrenkam was later picked out of a photo lineup by a witness to the murder after investigators reviewed surveillance video and interviewed numerous witnesses.

Fohrenkam is currently in the Hennepin County jail. His preliminary bail is set at $1 million.
