'Tis the season for stuffing your face with sweet treats while watching every horror movie you can find. You can see the most popular Halloween candies below, but what are the scariest movies? A company from the UK decided to find out by conducting a study where they monitored the heart rates of people as they watched horror movies.

Daniel Clifford, the man behind the study, said “With more people than ever facing a Halloween at home, our Science of Scare study was designed to help people find the most scientifically scary films ever made, to save them the time of searching through thousands of titles across streaming services."

The 35 scariest movies of all time, according to this study, were published on their site, broadbandchoices.co.uk, with The 2012 film Sinister taking the top spot. Audience members experienced a 32 percent increase in heart rate while watching the Ethan Hawke film. The average viewer's heartrate started at 65 beats per minute and rose to 86 bpm as the movie went o - spiking as high as 133 bpm.  Check out the trailer for Sinister below.

Insidious, The Conjuring, Hereditary, and Paranormal Activity also made the list along with classics like The ExorcistNightmare on Elm StreetHalloween, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
