Moorhead, MN (KROC-AM News) - A northwestern Minnesota man has the distinction of being the first state resident to face charges in connection with the riot at the US Capitol on January 6th.

The FBI and the Acting US Attorney for Minnesota today announced the arrest of 31-year-old Jordan Stotts of Moorhead. A news release says he was taken into custody by FBI agents from the Minneapolis field office this morning.

Stotts is charged with trespassing in connection with the violence around and inside the Capitol that delayed the counting of the electoral college votes from the 2020 Presidential election. He was arraigned before a federal magistrate in Bemidji this afternoon.

The criminal complaint against Stotts indicates a former classmate contacted the FBI and reported seeing Facebook posts made by the Moorhead man from the steps at the entrance to the US Capitol that included a 360-degree video from inside the Capitol rotunda.

Investigators also found security camera video from inside the Capitol showing Stotts. The court documents also indicate Stotts spoke with investigators and admitted spending about an hour walking around the rotunda area while members of Congress were being kept in secure areas to protect them from the mob of protesters and rioters.
