Third Minnesotan Accused of Participating in US Capitol Attack
St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - A third Minnesotan has been charged with participating in the attack on the U.S. Capitol.
The FBI announced agents from the Minneapolis field office today arrested 26-year-old Joshua Westberry of Lindstrom. He has been arraigned on for federal charges: Entering and Remaining in a Restricted Building and Grounds, Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct in a Restricted Building and Grounds, Disorderly and Disruptive Conduct any Capitol Building and Grounds, and Creating and Demonstrating or Picketing in a Capitol Building. The charges of the result of a tip received by the FBI in the early morning following the January 6th siege from a person who attended high school with Westbury.
An affidavit filed by an FBI agent says the former classmate saw Westbury on a video posted on the social media site TikTok and a Snapchat video that featured the east-central Minnesota man narrating his incursion into the Capitol building. The evidence listed in the court filing also lists a photo of Westbury taking a "selfie" inside the Capitol that was posted on the Reddit website and the filing also indicates the FBI obtained additional videos of Westbury in the Capitol from a Snapchat account belonging to him.
On Thursday, a Rochester woman was arraigned in federal court on six federal charges related to her alleged involvement in the rioting. 39-year-old Victoria White was released without bail and was ordered to return to court for a hearing on April 15th.
