Lanesboro is Up for Title of ‘Best Midwestern Small Town’
But they've also got company on the list with another Minnesota community, who just so happens to be in the top three at last check.
Lanesboro, which is just under an hour away and southeast of Rochester, is located in the Root River Valley.
But don't let this small community and population of 754 fool you, because anyone who's ever visited will tell you there's plenty to see and do!
Surrounded by Amish country, they're most known for their numerous outdoor activities around the area - like fishing, hiking and canoeing. The Root River Bike Trail is a huge draw, and the Root River that flows through the town attracts a ton of traffic every summer.
In fact, my wife and I love to go tubing down the Root River with friends every summer and follow it up with ice cream at one of the local shops in town. Plus there's numerous bed and breakfasts, something my wife has wanted us to try for years.
At last check, Charlevoix, Michigan, was in the lead. Followed by Grand Marais at No. 3, while Lanesboro sits at No. 15. You can view the entire leader board HERE.
Voting ends April 24 at 11 a.m.
